Quality Shift Manager

Role

Acting as a key member of the Technical team, the Shift Quality Manager will be tasked with overseeing and ensuring the smooth running of the Technical Department. You will also provide the business with technical support throughout the operation

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for process monitoring
  • Quality of finished products
  • Ensure that all products are processed in accordance with the specification.
  • The role involves working unsupervised and under your own initiative.
  • The successful candidates will show initiative have excellent communication and training skills, due to the large element of liaison with other departments and external customers/suppliers and the ability to undertake various problem-solving exercises
  • The post not only requires alertness and attention to the detail of procedures and statutory instruments, but also needs a high degree of communication, team work and partnership with other departments to ensure the smooth progression of work throughout the shifts.
  • To effectively manage the Quality department and work with management in the development of technical standards in manufacturing
  • To manage, control, train, discipline and assess staff to meet the requirements of the job and the quality system
  • To assist the Technical Manager in the effective management and control of costs in line with budgeted requirements
  • To identify, plan and implement continuous training and development programmes which enhance department and people skills in line with IIP principles
  • To ensure product is bottled to the highest possible quality standards and complies with all HMCE and TS requirements
  • To maintain a high degree of both product and personal safety in accordance with HSE, EHO & HMCE requirements, ensuring adherence to all legislative requirements.
  • To maintain ISO 9001:2015 within the business and ensure employees conform to specified procedures and standards
  • To maintain HACCP within the business and ensure employees conform to specified procedures and standards
  • Lead customer and third-party external audits on site
  • To recommend and implement improvements to processes or procedures
  • To maintain hygiene / housekeeping standards in accordance with the requirements of a food manufacturing environment through scheduled hygiene audits and cleaning chemical awareness
  • Responsible for control and monitoring of departmental risk assessments, health and safety and COSSH
  • Internal auditing of various functions around the business procedures/practices
  • To control non-conforming finished products and packaging
  • Assist to identify quality objectives for yourself and reports
  • To act as an authorised signatoAry for departmental documents
  • To deputise for the Technical Manager, when applicable
  • Build trusted relationships with the suppliers on technical matters and where necessary prepare reports, host and attend meetings on and off site
  • To maintain ISO 9001:2015 within the business and ensure employees conform to specified procedures and standards
  • To maintain HACCP within the business and ensure employees conform to specified procedures and standards
  • Lead customer and third-party external audits on site. Recommend and implement new accreditations where necessary
  • Internal auditing of various functions around the business, to ensure compliance with standards
  • Generation of improvement opportunities to continually upgrade procedures/practices
  • To control non-conforming finished products and packaging in accordance with the documented procedure
  • There is a high degree of responsibility for the maintenance of expensive and delicate laboratory equipment.
  • The job holder has the responsibility for organising maintenance and calibration visits from outside bodies and ensuring compliance with ISO9001:2015 / BRC regulations and other customer specific standards
  • The Shift Quality Manager has ownership for the QA’s and is responsible for job instruction and Health and Safety
