Job Purpose: The purpose of the Workshop Supervisor - Test and verification is to supervise, lead and motivate a team of skilled technicians who support all the company’s prototype test vehicles and properties, to complete both whole vehicle and component testing in line with design verification plans of all future company’s products.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
The key responsibilities and tasks of the role include:

  • Co-ordinate team activities which include the preparation & shakedown of prototype vehicles/bucks for Design Verification Plan testing, attribute sign-off events, mileage accumulation, conducting servicing and safety checks on prototype vehicles.
  • Ensure all vehicle updates are appropriately documented.
  • Manage and supervise the allocation of appropriate skilled technicians to carryout builds and upgrades as necessary, ensuring the maintenance of applicable documentation and that vehicles have had relevant safety checks prior to handover for test work.
  • Liaise with necessary Vehicle Engineering Team, Vehicle Design Verification Plan co-ordinators and test teams and plan ahead such that part availability /delays are minimised and cause as little disruption as possible.
  • Maintain discipline within the team, ensuring adherence to company procedures and H & S and ISO directives as followed by the Company, ensure housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Lead and develop skills of team by understanding the range of skills that are required within the Test and Verification area. Plan & coordinate training to achieve team versatility requirements.
  • Ensure workshop equipment and tooling is in place and maintained to enable team to carry out activities at main UK Test and Verification workshop and satellite facilities in UK and abroad. Identify new tool and equipment requirements as new vehicle programmes are developed, create solutions, source and implement.
  • Support prototype test vehicles whilst on test, both in the UK and abroad.
  • Capture data from test vehicles and document for further analysis
  • Will have experience working with Hybrid or Electric vehicles or working with High Voltage systems in automotive applications

Qualifications & Experience:
The successful applicant will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Full Apprenticeship (Motor Vehicle background) ideally to HNC level
  • Degree in Engineering
  • Prestige Vehicle Experience
  • Prototype Test Vehicle Experience
  • Work experience preparing and supporting Prototype test vehicles.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer systems and software including MS Word & Excel.
  • Knowledge of the company’s Product would be an advantage
  • Team player but also able to work independently

  • Ability to travel to support tests
  • Clean Driving License
  • Experience and ability to drive test vehicles on Proving Grounds
