Aston Martin are looking for someone to manage the attribute performance of body closures at a system level. The primary function of this role is to lead target cascade, design review and system validation activities to ensure the components which make up the closure systems deliver against vehicle requirements.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Take vehicle level attribute targets and cascade from a system to component level using CAE models, physical bucks and design guides.
  • Ensure commodity strategy decisions are made in a cross functional manner for closure systems – act as the voice of the system.
  • Balance component targets to ensure system level attribute performance is maintained.
  • Escalate when attribute performance is compromised by component level decisions.
  • Work with body development team to create pre-build bucks / rigs plans and post build DVP plans to robustly sign of attribute performance.
  • Own all aspects of design and release of hinges and struts for future models.
  • Own system level Failure Mode Avoidance activities and ensure that all risks are assessed through DFMEA / recurrence prevention activities and that plans are put in place to mitigate risk at the earliest opportunity.
  • Own route-cause analysis activities for closure system based concerns which arise during launch / design verification. Cascade actions to system owners for release.
  • Supervise assigned team members, giving technical direction and workload priorities. Run weekly team meeting for sub team.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum Degree level in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience in the field of attribute management
  • Experience in a hands on development role
  • Experience of assigning tasks and prioritise to small team to meet deliverables
  • Good ability to clearly present information to all levels in the organisation.
  • Knowledge of NX would be an advantage
  • Knowledge and experience of Failure Mode Avoidance techniques (FMEA)
  • Able to lead team members with varying personalities and motivations in an effective manner.
