The purpose of the role is to complete all required CAD duties to support Release Engineers. Main role is pedals and body mounted Brake component design including progression through to part drawings.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Support Chassis Component Engineers with component and system designs in NX.
  • Modelling of Pedal boxes, throttle pedals, brake boosters, vac pumps, pipes and hoses, steering column and intermediate shafts is the main task. Other Chassis components will be included when required to balance work load.
  • Undertake concept and packaging studies to help determine the most appropriate part, system or technology from various suppliers.
  • Work on all model lines.
  • Complete clearance checks and highlight any issues or opportunities.
  • Prepare detail drawings & models in support of the Release process.
  • Contribute effectively to team technical discussions to ensure that the Component Engineers understand the effects of design changes.
  • Support problem solving/quality teams as directed by management.
  • Attend packaging meetings if required.
  • Keep abreast of technical developments within the industry.
  • Work with Manufacturing and Service to minimise assembly and service times

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Engineering Degree in appropriate discipline.
  • Experience within an automotive or automotive components supplier group.
  • Experience using NX.
  • Fully capable with 2D drafting.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle braking and steering systems.
  • Good working knowledge of VIS Mockup and Team Centre.
  • AMPCS knowledge or equivalent process knowledge (GPDS , FPDS)
  • Able to work as part of a small team and actively participate in creation and development of innovative design solutions within the CAD environment.
  • Strong time management, accuracy, diligence, ability to balance and prioritise multiple tasks to meet customer needs
  • Competent in all Microsoft Office applications would be useful
