Job Purpose This position is a Fixed Term Contract (maternity cover) which will run until 30th November 2017. The purpose of this role is : To execute material and component testing to support materials development, design verification and vehicle launch. To execute development and sign-off testing for durability (accelerated ageing). To provide proactive, organisational and practical skills to plan, set-up, run and complete all test requirements in a timely manner. To create and write test reports and raise any concern occurred during the test plan.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Support & execute physical & mechanical tests on components, trimmed components, roll stock materials & test plaques.
  • Support & execute climatic testing on components, trimmed components, roll stock materials and test plaques.
  • Support & execute mechanical testing on adhesives and coupons.
  • Check components & materials prior to test & report any issue.
  • Prepare samples for tests. Run test according to test standards & methods.
  • Raise concerns when necessary to Materials Engineer and Materials Team Leader (timing issue on component delivery/test equipment availability/target for test report, equipment concern, test failure, component quality prior to performance analysis).
  • Ensure 5S standard management of testing facilities.
  • Ensure test completion to meet delivery targets.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Materials Engineering, Polymers Science, Chemistry or related subject.
  • Experience in automotive industry (experience within other engineering sectors will also be considered).
  • Experience in Laboratory Materials testing.
  • Knowledge of metals and non-metallic materials.
  • Assimilate automotive test procedures.
  • Data recording, analysis & report writing.
  • Colour awareness.
  • Good technical & manual skills.
  • Good communication skills: able to communicate ideas clearly & concisely.
  • Good time management & organisational skills.
  • Capability of working under pressure.
  • Knowledge of automotive test standards.
