Job Purpose: The purpose of the Restraints Engineer is to lead the delivery of Platform Restraints Systems (specifically DMIC/IKB) across programmes.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
The key responsibilities and tasks of the role include:

  • Support technical engineering issues resolution in line with programme targets and constraints
  • Development and management of component and system level performance and quality targets and requirements.
  • Change management of restraint systems (design and release)
  • Support cross platform restraints strategy for multiple vehicle lines
  • Liaise with and manage external Suppliers and partners
  • Liaise with and support interfacing internal areas within the business
  • Define, manage and execute system/component level verification plan (Design Verification Plan) including both external supplier and internal testing
  • Conduct failure mode avoidance activities (Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis/Quality History Review) for restraints components
  • Ensure delivery of Restraints systems to programme targets, timing and costs.

Qualifications & Experience
The successful applicant will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Good Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent) minimum 2.1
  • Excellent knowledge of Automotive Restraint Systems
  • Experience in Restraints systems development
  • Proven track record of achievement within Restraints Systems development and delivery
  • Experience of staff line management
  • Programme management experience (planning, financial and status reporting responsibility)
  • Intuitive knowledge of fundamental Mechanical engineering theory
  • Excellent IT skills and working knowledge of MS word/Excel etc
  • Excellent problem solving abilities
  • Full UK Drivers Licence and flexibility to travel in UK and overseas
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence at all levels of organisation
