An exciting opportunity is available for a Bio Process Engineering Consultant to assist a growing consultancy specialising in the design of projects within the Bioprocess and Pharmaceutical Industry.

Roles/Responsibilities:

This position is suitable for biochemical and bioprocess engineers with a minimum of 8 years’ experience within engineering design, with a particular emphasis on biopharma projects. A level of design practice knowledge in line with time served is desirable.

This is a senior technology appointment with the incumbent reporting to a Senior Manager.

Overview of Engineering Skills:

Biotechnology:
Detailed understanding of the manufacturing processes utilising living organisms, especially microorganisms including, bacterial, yeasts and moulds, mammalian cells, viruses and transgenics.

Knowledge of the following product sectors:

  • Antibiotics
  • Vaccines
  • Therapeutic proteins
  • Monoclonal antibodies
  • Regenerative medicine

Industry Standards and Codes:
As appropriate for the years of experience, familiarisation with the main codes and standards applicable to process design. A good working knowledge of those specific to work experience gained, and the ability to advise others on their interpretation and use.

Person Specification:

The ability to present themselves to Clients in a positive light and to give confidence in work presented, information flow is maintained and projects are progressed. Represent Company within the bioprocess and biopharmaceutical design communities.
Experienced in technology transfer and scale up
Contribute to bid preparation
Participate in developing new business lines through networking
Be capable of contributing to multiple projects
Have an understanding of the chemical engineering consultancy market.

Essential Experience:

The minimum requirement is a full degree or a postgraduate degree (masters or doctorate) in Bioprocess Engineering or a related subject as recognised by the IChemE. The incumbent must be intent on full membership of the IChemE and the title of Chartered Engineer.
Candidates must have a proven background in Biopharma or related projects as the incumbent will be responsible for client liaison, client development and technical delivery in this area.
