Our client is a global engineering business that have been established for over 130 years and now have over 500 offices around the world. They deliver creative, comprehensive and sustainable engineering solutions across a wide variety of sectors. Their Biotech and Pharmaceutical business is currently seeking a Senior Architect to join their Midlands team to support a number of major projects across the UK and Europe.

The successful candidate will provide technical design input and architectural layout expertise for major projects within the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and other process related industries. They will perform the full range of professional architectural activities requiring a high degree of technical judgment and resourcefulness in the planning; design and construction of projects. They will review and evaluate customer’s production needs and propose suitable solutions to remove bottlenecks and resolve cGMP issues.

The Key areas of responsibility are:
Site Master Planning general layout input and management
Feasibility, scheme and detail design stage drawing creation and management
Coordination
of a design to ensure good interface with all other disciplines
Value engineering input for cleanrooms, cleanroom finishes, integration with other disciplines, and equipment
Cost management in conjunction with Quantity Surveyors and equipment suppliers.

Core Functions:
To assist a Site Master Plan leader in recommending improvements to existing Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical
facilities.
To be a competent presenter to clients and professional bodies
Provide up to date technical advice to internal and external customers on Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical standards.

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will have demostratable experience for a range of layout and flow management issues particularly in Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical environments including laboratories, Vivarium Facilities, Secondary Pharmaceutical Facilities, sterile fill/finish/packaging and warehousing facilities.

Qualifications:
Degree or equivalent
RIBA or ARB registered.

Experience:
Demonstrable experience within the pharmaceutical/biotech business sector.
Practical understanding of the implications of cGMP requirements and indepth knowledge of cleanroom construction
Analyzing and identifying architectural elements of design for conformance with applicable regulatory standards, policies, and
codes of practice
