Role: Working in a four person team you will be responsible for running the PMB production facility to produce high quality, premium binders and pen grade bitumen’s conforming to relevant standards in force at the time, testing the finished product, managing the tank farms and the control of all finished and base products. During week days work as part of the production team under the guidance of the site technicians, these duties will include but not limited to: ordering raw materials, taking delivery of raw materials, goods receipting raw materials and maintaining site stock records detailing ALL site movements. Planning and carrying out bitumen loading schedules and the operations of the site heating systems. (lone working at weekend and occasional week day night shifts)

Duties:

  • To ensure that all operations at the plant are carried out safely and in accordance with designated control procedures and work instructions.
  • To capture and record all orders.
  • To assist plant technicians as directed supplying polymer to the blending mill.
  • To sample the finished product tanks, test Penetration, softening point and viscosity of each batch manufactured to ensure product conforms to the relevant standards in force at the time. Maintain laboratory records to ensure full traceability and retain finished product samples.
  • Provision of bitumen samples that may include laboratory blending for customer assessment in their products.
  • Carryout contractor inductions and maintain induction records in accordance with the necessary procedures.
  • To ensure that the site is maintained in a clean and safe condition at all times.
  • To monitor the performance of the plant to ensure efficient operation, including fault diagnosis and trouble shooting.  Liaise as necessary with maintenance engineers.
  • Sample, test and monitor the quality of import/export operations to and from site, manage all streams ensuring product specification is maintained throughout.
  • To manage the process and laboratory waste in accordance with site procedures.
  • Entering and recording unplanned maintenance as required.
  • Where necessary carry out maintenance tasks and assist in the execution of maintenance tasks.

Requirements:

  • Experience within operations linked to tank farm management, bulk tanker loading and discharge, hydrocarbon blending and hot oil systems, would be an advantage.
  • An effective team player and the ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • An Authorised lead permit issuer with the authority to raise Work Permits, hot work, confined space and isolation certification.
  • Experience and an awareness of risks of handling hazardous chemicals.
  • An understanding of plant process control with the necessary   understanding to assist in the identification of fault diagnosis. 
  • An RTITB qualification for the operation of the fork lift truck (counterbalance)
  • A qualified First Aider.
  • Trained in the use of penetrometer, Brookfield viscometer, Density, Total water immersion and soften point equipment
