Rangemaster’s presence in Leamington Spa dates back over 200 years when Sidney Flavel first manufactured his cast iron ranges. The company has had an undying reputation for innovation since its earliest days - Victorians awarding the Flavel Kitchener a Prize Medal at the Crystal Palace Great Exhibition at Crystal Palace. New product development and innovation is as important today as it was then and has been instrumental to the company’s growing success and underpinned its market position as the premier domestic cooking brand in the UK. Some 25% of Rangemaster products built at Leamington are destined for our growing overseas market that extends from near Europe to the Pacific Rim. AGA Rangemaster was acquired by the Middleby Corporation in 2015.

The Product Design And Development Team
The outcomes of the design and development teams are the lifeblood of the business with team members being responsible for not only identifying new and innovative features and technical improvements but also working with manufacturing and production engineering in bringing new ideas to fruition. The Leamington team consists of some 14 design and development engineers with a further 8 in the support and prototype teams to ensure that bills of materials, spares, data files and technical documentation and translations are in place to support the ongoing sales and marketing objectives.

Key Job requirements

  • Capable of designing safe new products/features/ideas from concept to introduction on gas, electrical and dual fuel products.
  • Capable of creating, interpreting and implementing solutions for warranty related problems as well as cost reduction and value analysis proposals.
  • Capable of designing for manufacture to ensure minimum componentry /model flexibility.
  • Capable of liaising effectively with both internal and external suppliers.
  • The application of practical design methodologies such as 3D CAD.
  • Capable of liaising effectively with both internal and external suppliers
  • Capable of creating, interpreting and implementing solutions for warranty related problems as well as cost reduction and value analysis proposals.
  • Experience of development techniques including: FMEA, DFM, and DFA.
  • Key performance measures include the achievement of project tasks in line with timing, financial, and quality parameters.

The Person
Ideally qualified to HNC level in a relevant field you will possess excellent communication & interpersonal skills and will be comfortable working with a diverse range of people at all levels within the organisation.
Minimum of 3 years within a dynamic product development environment using SOLID WORKS or similar CAD applications
