An assignment is available for a Crane Scheme Coordinator (Lifting Appointed Person) to support the construction of a major nuclear project.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Reports to Temporary Works Manager.
  • Coordinating crane documentation requirements across the site in line with the construction schedule.
  • Identification of lifting requirement across the project to ensure timelines are optimised and met.
  • Preparation and submission of crane schemes in accordance with SL procedures.  
  • Ensuring that lift plans have been prepared and approved, and all relevant personnel have been briefed prior to commencement of any lifting operation.
  • Being principal in the development through collaboration with Temporary Works Department and HSEQ Department where ‘Standard’ and ‘Complex’ lifting operations are being planned
  • Ensuring all key personnel involved in lifting operations are correctly certificated (CPCS only).
  • Ensuring relevant Approval to Work checklists are completed prior to commencement of lifting operation.
  • Ensuring Lifting Appliances and Lifting Accessories Registers are maintained.
  • Ensuring statutory thorough examinations on lifting appliances are recorded every 6/12 months (as appropriate).
  • Ensuring all lifting accessories have been examined, tested, certificated and correctly stored.
  • Arranging for 6 monthly examinations of lifting accessories (March and September) and all accessories are colour coded accordingly.
  • Ensuring correct selection and usage of lifting accessories

Person Specification:

  • Blue card holder
  • AP Qualification
  • This is a site based position requiring security clearance
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel & Powerpoint packages
  • Ideally previous experience of nuclear construction projects or working in a highly regulated industry

Essential Experience : 

  • Appointed person certification (Lifting)
  • Able to attain full security clearance
  • Previous experience of construction projects in a highly regulated industry
