The purpose of the role is to lead a team of Engineers creating 3D geometry to support the design and development of Underframe Platforms.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks
• Provide CAD support
• Develop, implement and enforce CAD Standards and User guides
• Organise the CAD environment
• Interact on project standards coordination with PLM Team
• Maintain CAD standards in the use of TCE
• Provide leadership and vision to the department in the area of CAD
• Benchmark best practices for BIW throughout Automotive Industry
• Identify how this best practise can be implemented and where appropriate lead that implementation
• Lead the development of engineering design methods for lightweight, efficient body structures.
• Work with academic and engineering partners to enable the development of in house expertise in BIW design of manufacture and lightweight body structures engineering
• Customization of CAD Programs with PLM team
• Strategic Resource Planning and recruitment
• Periodic checking of model and drawing quality to ensure standards are maintained
• Manage team, create, monitor and measure performance objectives
• Provide training and supervision of CAD engineers
• Devise and implement individual training plans

Qualifications & Experience
• Engineering degree (or equivalent) and experience within automotive engineering / product development
• Extensive experience in all aspects of Siemens NX CAD Modelling and Drafting Software
• Experience in the use of Siemens TeamCenter PLM Software
• Experience in the application of PMI data and model-based definition
• Experience in the application of datum and tolerance definition through GD&T
• Knowledge of BS8888 CAD standards
• Team leadership experience
• Knowledge of BIW engineering an advantage
• Proven experience in developing design for manufacturing talent and preferably design of lightweight body structures.
