An opportunity is available for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a growing company, who are currently expanding their team due to new projects won ranging in value from £250,000 to £1 million initially.  This role will also present a longer term development opportunity for progression to Senior Commercial Manager.

• To manage, monitor and review all costs to building and civil engineering projects from the initial calculations to the final figures
• Seek to minimise costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality. 
• Adhere to quality standards as specified by statutory building regulations
• Undertaking cost analysis for repair and maintenance project works
• Assisting in establishing a client’s requirements and undertaking feasibility studies performing risk and value management and cost control
• Performing continual measuring and the review of contract works and recording/costing accordingly
• The preparation and management of valuations/applications for payment for completed work and arranging payments
• Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports
• Managing and reporting on any variations/compensation events and costing into the final accounts accordingly
• Managing, monitoring and reporting options to minimise costs of the project providing documented evidences
• Create reports of profitability which are continually monitored and reviewed
• Work closely with the Commercial and Operations Team preparing tender and contract documents including bill of quantities in line with the architect and client
• Manage, Monitor and review costs, budgets and value
• Provide accurate and clear reporting to the MD and Commercial Team
• Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules
• Preparing, monitoring and reviewing contract programmes and ensuring operations are carried out in accordance with  Raise subcontract orders and manage subcontract accounts
• Resolve disputes with clients and subcontractors
• Attending meetings where required and representing the company
• Manage, monitor and review the implications of Health, Safety and Environmental issues in adhering to regulations and internal/clients procedures accordingly
• Assisting and monitoring the identification of commercial risk and opportunities and carrying out value engineering exercises as required

Person Specification:

• An ambitious team player who can hit the ground running with exceptional communication and negotiation skills
• Proven experience working with NEC/JCT contracts
• Proven experience of managing cost and value on own projects from the moment the tender has been won 
• Professional, very knowledgeable and able to report accurately to the MD
• A hand on approach is required as you will be meeting Clients on site, marking up progress and doing site measures and walks
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Possess all usual IT skills associated with the position
Essential Experience: 
• Quantity Surveyor within Civil Engineering & Projects supported by a HNC, HND or degree in a construction related discipline
• Proven experience working with NEC/JCT contracts
• Proven experience of managing cost and value on own projects from the moment the tender has been won
• Professional, knowledgeable and accurate reporting skills
