Provide the co-ordination, metrics and control for aspects of Purchasing in support of new vehicle special programmes, ensuring compliance with Purchasing strategy and Programme milestones. To extract and analyse Programme data for the creation and updating of robust Purchasing metrics and the support of the Special Programmes Purchasing Manager. To ensure outputs are more systemised, process driven and consistent across programmes through review of processes and liaison with Systems. To procure a defined range of components, in line with Purchasing departmental procedures and objectives, focusing on securing strong commercial terms and excellent quality and delivery service levels from our suppliers.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks
• Coordination of purchasing activity for minor program activity ensuring all milestones requirements are met
• Support the Purchasing Programme Co-ordinators on all relevant vehicle line issues.
• In conjunction with Purchasing team and the Supplier base, provide lead times for generation of the Engineering Timing Release Schedule and take a lead in ensuring ERNs are able to support MRDs.
• Support the development, implementation and monitoring of purchasing processes to support Programme milestones.
• Maintain, distribute and ensure supervision of Programme metrics to deliver purchasing deliverables as required.
• Provide support with respect to the financial target setting process and ongoing adherence to an Affordable Business Structure.
• Monitor Purchasing adherence to Change Management Process and initiate action where necessary.
• In conjunction with Purchasing team and the Supplier base, provide lead times for generation of the Engineering Timing Release Schedule and take a lead in ensuring ERNs are able to support MRDs.
• Analyse , track and report programme cost data , identifying risk and opportunities
• Initiate activities to mitigate risk and realise opportunities
• Support in managing supplier performance through new vehicle launch phases ensuring that Quality, Cost and Delivery performance is maintained at high levels.
• Provide purchasing / commercial input into cross-functional teams that effectively contributes to the organisation’s programme goals by applying a confident approach to teamwork.
• Constantly strive for process improvement opportunities internally as well as with the Supplier base, focussing on business ‘Best Practice’ initiatives.
• Identify supplier risk and assist in developing robust risk mitigation strategies where necessary.
• Provide assistance where required to ensure sure component availability for specific build phases.
• Liaise with external Suppliers and internal functional areas and provide assistance where required to ensure that parts are available to support prototype and pre-production build phases.
• In conjunction with Buyers and external Suppliers, provide support to Finance with respect to the target setting process and ongoing adherence to an Affordable Business Structure.

Qualifications & Experience
• A competent understanding of the Microsoft suite of office tools is required, as is Presentation skills.
• In addition the Programme Buyer is expected to have commercial, analytical and interpersonal skills as they solve problems in areas where they have no supervisory influence.
• Ideally the successful candidate will be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline, a full member of CIPS or at least working towards it.
• The individual should hold a full driving licence and be prepared to travel where their specific work responsibilities require it.
• Purchasing experience ideally within a manufacturing environment is required; however, of greater importance is the individual’s aptitude and commitment to rapidly assimilate the needs of the role and to be quickly performing in the role, to a high standard.
