Job Purpose: To assist the Workshop Controller and Service Manager to motivate and lead the team of technicians through effective communication. To carry out primary diagnosis where necessary. To assist technicians with diagnosis and testing where necessary. To carry out random quality checks and record findings and report any trends. Ensure effective team working by efficient use of labour/resource in conjunction with the Workshop Controller. Ensure all work is carried out in the most efficient way and to the highest standards To ensure the workshop is clean and tidy at all times and report any issues to the Workshop Controller. To carry out diagnostic road test with customers when required. Ensure warranty work is carried out as per Aston Martin Warranty Policies and Procedures.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • To continue to carry out all work required by a Grade A Technician.
  • To assist the Workshop Controller in co-ordinating daily team activities.
  • Enable team development to allow decisions to be made, (as appropriate).
  • Lead the team to monitor control and improve the quality level within the areas of identified responsibility.  Company and Customer quality standards will be referred to at all times.
  • Motivate and lead the team in the development of world-class performance in the establishment of housekeeping principals and adherence to safety/environmental regulations in line with a culture that leads to a team of self-discipline/control.
  • Maintain an effective level of communication at all times to Worksop Controller, Technicians, Service Reception Engineers and Service Manager.
  • To assist the Worksop Controller to ensure all technicians comply with Health and Safety Regulations at all times and report any incidents and concerns.
  • To monitor workshop equipment and all special tools and report any failures, damage and concerns.
  • To assist Workshop Controller with identifying technician training needs.
  • To deputise for the Workshop Controller in his absence.
  • To enhance the reputation of Aston Martin Works at every opportunity when interacting with others.
  • Liaise with Aston Martin Technical and Client Services to assist with the resolution of technical issues.
  • Qualifications and Experience:
  • To have an excellent understanding of all maintenance and repair techniques for current vehicles.
  • The job requires team leadership and the understanding of technician range of skills that are required within the area as may be required to act as emergency absence cover
  • Coaching and mentoring skills to enable effective team morale and performance.
  • Able to identify team strengths and weaknesses and report any training needs.
  • Needs to have the ability to use diagnostic skills to determine faults and lead a team in the rectification of such faults.
  • Computer Literate.
  • Excellent communication skills.
