Purpose of Job: Work closely with the PSM, Control Engineer, SAP/APs, the WAD Coordinator and the Project Director and Senior Managers. Liaises and coordinate with the Interface/Integration Manager for works involving, where applicable, the Tier1 contractors, National Grid, Network Rail, UKPN or London Underground.

Objectives & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Systemwide C610, C644 and C650 T&C lead engineers.
  • Plan and implement the testing programme and deliver the energisation strategy as directed by the project.
  • Attend the T&C weekly progress review meeting chaired by the head of T&C.
  • Issue T&C progress reports per site on a weekly basis.
  • Discuss and agree the safety arrangements with the PSM for energisation purposes.
  • Discuss and agree the safety arrangements for testing with the relevant SSPs.
  • Attend the interface meetings with the BSP suppliers and lead the contents and arrangements of the Interface Test Plans.

Manage the delivery of the T&C documentation such as, but not limited to: -

  • T&C Test Descriptions
  • Test Procedures
  • Test Data Sheets (TDS)
  • Energisation strategies and packs
  • T&C Safety Packs
  • Provide to the Certification Engineer the TDS and other testing evidence constituting Test Reports such as site red lines drawings to allow progressive certification.
  • Supervises and co-ordinates his/her team of testers and electricians on site and the works on site; Supervise subcontractors where necessary.
  • Organise the issue of WRA and manage site access via the WAD Coordinator.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the electrical systems during the commissioning period up until 1st Energisation.
  • Complete induction and training as required by the Employer’s and Others.
  • Implement the relevant requirements of the Employer’s Safety, Quality, Environmental and Operational within the areas of responsibility whilst on site.

Educational Requirements:

  • Engineering Degree or similar
  • Familiar with HV, Track, OHLE and M&E systems
  • Computer literate i.e. Microsoft office

Knowledge / Experience:

  • Experience required in testing and commissioning of LV, HV and Traction Power system equipment as well as Track, M&E and OHLE.
  • Experience in testing HV protection systems
  • Clear understanding of safety rules and associated permit to work systems.
  • Experience working within substation environment
  • railway experience desirable.
