We are supporting a multi-discipline engineering consultancy that works on projects in the process industries (water, oil, gas, chemical, pharmaceutical) with clients across the globe. Having been established for over 25 years, they employ industry experts to ensure they provide the best solutions to all the projects they undertake.

In line with expansion plans for 2018, an opportunity is available for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to assist with a North West based Engineering Consultancy.

Roles and Responsibilities:
You will be an excellent communicator, a technical expert in your discipline, commercially aware and accountable for ensuring the accuracy and quality of our deliverables.
You will be responsible for Mechanical Engineering design across various process industry projects (water, oil & gas, chemical and pharmaceutical) covering aspects such as:
FEED and Detailed Design
Mechanical design of plant, equipment and layout that meets the specific projects requirements
Project coordination and management
Leading and mentoring of other staff members
Definition of scopes of work

Person Specification:

  • Degree Qualified, Chartered Mechanical Engineer with a bias towards the petrochemical industry.
  • Have the capability to represent the Company to clients, in all matters appertaining to mechanical engineering.
  • Work in conjunction with the combined engineering discipline team to create a design of plant, equipment and layout that meets the specific projects requirements.
  • Undertake mechanical engineering duties, advise and oversee mechanical and piping team members:
  • Define Mechanical Scopes of Work
  • Mechanical Calculations and Specifications
  • Use of appropriate Standards
  • Bid analysis for procurement, installation, commissioning and testing

Liaise competently with all Stakeholders, providing leadership, advice and feedback, representing the company at all times:

  • Clients
  • Sub-Contractors
  • Vendors
  • Senior Management
  • Project Managers
  • Staff across all discipline
  • Excellent communicator, with interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Essential Experience: 
Chartered Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience of FEED and Detailed Design working on Process Industry projects (water, oil & gas, chemical and pharmaceutical).
