Role Definition: The generation of production representative prototype components and appliances from sketches and drawings prepared by the Engineering team. Providing occasional support to the Manufacturing team Working within a framework defined by the Product Development Process Leader.

  • Sub contract model makers
  • Occasional supplier liaison

Capabilities:

  • Manipulation of sheet metal (stainless / mild steel / enamelling iron / etc) into a form representative of that produced from press tools.
  • Be capable of working with a wide range of materials ie plastics, wood, etc.
  • Be able to join the aforementioned materials by welding, (Arc, MIG, TIG, Gas, CO2), brazing, etc.
  • Energetic, flexible and adaptable within a pressurised environment providing technical advice and guidance to other business areas.
  • Appreciation of normal manufacturing processes, their associated capabilities and limitations.
  • Be able to work on their own initiative or under the guidance of others within the Product Development team.
  • Any reasonable task associated with the efficient running of the department

Education & Training Requirements:

  • Minimum qualification is a City & Guilds or equivalent in sheet metal work and welding together with appropriate experience (ideally ‘time served’).
