We are assisting a leading development and construction company that specialises in homes, accommodation and building projects across the UK. An exciting opportunity is available for an Assistant Procurement Quantity Surveyor to support the team due to growth of the division.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The role is working on large student accommodation developments.  It is an office based role, with occasional travel to site.

  • Create and issue enquiries
  • Obtain competitive quotations for subcontract packages by negotiating most competitive position to include programme, performance and quality
  • Create spreadsheets for subcontract tender comparisons
  • Phone subcontractors to identify if they are able to carry out work or interested in tendering
  • Type orders
  • Attend meetings with sub-contractors in conjunction with mentor
  • Measure material requirements from drawings and measurements
  • Delegate copies of drawings, filing and photocopying to team administrator
  • Share information with colleagues to encourage flow of information and share issues and concerns
  • Occasionally attend meetings
  • Other tasks as required

Essential Experience:

  • Working towards qualification level of NVQ 4, Degree, HND, HNC or equivalent experience.
  • Able to read and interpret drawings
  • Ability to carry out standard take offs
  • Developing negotiation skills in order to negotiate best value packages
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Working knowledge of Building Regulations
  • Basic knowledge of Word & Excel
