An assignment is available for an experienced procurement specialist to support a large nuclear project in Derby.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Commercial responsibility for the day to day management of significant contracts, variations and claims.
  • Preparation, co-ordination and management of necessary tendering processes in accordance with our clients procedures.
  • Develop and implement contracting strategies in order to secure appropriate supply chain arrangements
  • Regular strategic review of results and forecasts in conjunction with the Commercial Project Manager provide contract advice and support to project managers during the execution phases.
  • Ensure that all contract and commercial management requirements are delivered in a compliant manner with due regard to health & safety, technical, quality, cost and programme objectives.
  • Maintain good working relationships with delivery teams, stakeholders, supply chain and consultants.
  • Develop department / function to ensure future business needs are met.

Person Specification:

  • Candidates for this post are likely to be procurement / commercial / supply chain / contract management / legal specialists, with a broad based technical background and first class commercial skills.
  • Supply chain, logistics and/or commercial management experience will have been gained in complex roles including joint ventures and large capital projects with responsibility for delivery to a profit & loss account.
  • Competences will preferably have been gained in highly regulated industries (e.g. offshore, renewables, rail, oil and gas, nuclear or chemical industry).
  • Relevant experience in contract management environment, with several years of demonstrable contracting / procurement management experience in major CAPEX and OPEX contexts.
  • General engineering, technical or commercial qualification, degree qualified or equivalent.
  • Strong manager and team player, with the ability to influence over a wide network of co-worker relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Lead and supervise all commercial aspects in tendering and contracting phase.
  • Strong commercial contract and negotiation experience and experience.
  • Strong self-performance management and delivery focus with the ability to balance conflicting requirements of quality, cost and time and make decisions in tight timescales.
  • Eye for detail. Be results-oriented, able to meet tight deadlines and produce concise information for senior management.
  • Knowledge of FIDIC and LOGIC contracts would be a distinctive advantage.

  • Experienced procurement specialist with experience of FIDIC contracts and the purchasing of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation equipment.
