The role of the Product Coach is to represent production during the launch phases of a programme. The aim is to transfer the learning to the production team, highlight any issues and support on-line containments to ensure high quality vehicle launches.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Ensure all issues are reported, and support the relevant Launch engineers to resolve issues in a timely manner and escalate as required.
  • Liaise with group leaders, lead technicians and build technicians on a regular basis to communicate product/process changes and to keep them aware of what builds are happening, their progress and any issues.
  • Represent production and production requirements during programmes inclusive of Virtual, Prototype and Launch builds.
  • Assist in the progression of all vehicles through off-track processes to ensure that they meet their handover dates to the customer under the supervision of the Product Coach Group Leader.
  • Conduct within the static training areas and the static and dynamic training with operators for Launch builds
  • Responsible for consumable materials and housekeeping within work areas.
  • Support Launch activities under the supervision of the Product Coach Group Leader.
  • Support continuous improvement activities in work areas of responsibility including Health & Safety, quality and cost through Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen.
  • Support Reverse Teardown Process and identify related manufacturing and product concerns.
  • Assist with trial and prove-out of new equipment and tooling.
  • Assist Production and Manufacturing Engineering to provide input to the Cycle Line Layout, workstation design and identifying base, difficult and critical operations and assessing training requirements.
  • May be required to support all production areas including offtracks where necessary

Qualifications and Experience

  • Greenbelt trained, or willing to undertake such training
  • Good general knowledge of a plant operating procedures to ISO9001 (or equivalent)
  • Experience of ‘lean Manufacturing’ tools and techniques (beneficial but not obligatory)
  • Experience of AML Production processes
  • Vehicle rework experience preferable
  • Good communication skills to all levels
