Our Engineering Consultancy client is looking for an Electrical Engineer to work between their design office in Runcorn and the construction site in Cheshire. Gas Storage experience would be a distinct advantage for the chosen candidate.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design of new E&I systems including the completion of relevant Change Control documentation.
  • Ongoing development of site E&I systems including the identification and investigation of defects, and improvements in line with industry best practice.
  • Commissioning of new electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Review of major project documentation and drawings from an E&I perspective.
  • Role of Electrical Authorised Persons - authorised to undertake both LV and HV electrical isolations on site.
  • Control of appropriate sub-contractors for site based work, as necessary.
  • Provision of advice to site management on specialist electrical & instrumentation supplier and contractor selection.
  • Ensuring compliance of their work and that their sub-contractors with appropriate legislation such as the Electricity at Work. Regulations 1989, IEE Wiring Regulations and DSEAR.
  • Contributing to process safety reviews and audits.
  • Assisting the Hole House Management team with the development of relevant maintenance procedures.

Person Specification:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience of maintaining highly automated process plant systems in an Electrical, Control and Instrumentation function
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working on major hazard COMAH sites
  • High level of commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental management systems
  • Broad general engineering/technical background
  • Good understanding of the principles of process safety and functional safety (and associated industry based British Standards)
  • Experience of participation in HAZID and HAZOP technical safety reviews
  • Experience of the effective selection and control of sub-contractors

Essential Experience : 

Appropriate specific engineering and technical experience in line with the following qualifications such as:

  • HNC Engineering or degree level qualification
  • City & Guilds qualifications such as -
  • Level 3 Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations - BS 7671
  • Level 3 Certificate in Design, Erection and Verification of Electrical Installations
  • Level 3 Certificate in Inspection, Testing and Certification of electrical installations
  • Electrical Installation (theory and practice) competencies
  • High Voltage Network Systems - operational and safety certification
  • Industrial Measurement and Control Technicians Certificate
  • NVQ level 3 in electrical installation work
  • Compex training
  • Membership of appropriate professional engineering institution preferably with Chartered status.
