The purpose of the role is to support, develop and execute class leading sensory perceived quality. It requires consideration of all interactions with Aston Martin's products from a customer’s perspective and understanding how we can engineer specifically for the senses to enhance those interactions.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

  • To support the Sensory Perceived Quality PAT in the generation of detailed component and system level engineering targets (AMSDS)
  • To perform early SPQ failure mode detection through the creation and testing of virtual and physical bucks, sub-assemblies and prototype parts.
  • Lead cross functional reviews to drive and resolve key PQ issues to improve product level craftsmanship and increase the impact of the attribute within the organisation
  • Support target setting and benchmarking activity through vehicle auditing
  • Support in the development of design rules and best-practice
  • Validate targets throughout the design and engineering development processes
  • Create & update PAT documents and key vehicle programme trackers.
  • Create, critique, and execute test plans to ensure design verification and reporting is performed in the most effective and efficient manner.
  • Update current test methods and write new test methods
  • Organise in-source & out-source testing (liaise with suppliers, organise & follow-up component procurement, organise test planning & manage test method specification)
  • Support/Execute component, system & vehicle tests
  • Communicate/Present test results & support technical reviews and PMST meetings
  • Write/Archive test reports & deviations
  • Generate new concept ideas
  • Proactive identification and awareness of future technologies and trends

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification
  • Industrial Design Degree (BSc or equivalent qualification)
  • Experience within automotive engineering sectors
  • Some experience working as a Quality Engineer, Craftsmanship Engineer in the Automotive industry
  • Experience in building test rigs, analysing data and reporting test results with pragmatic hands-on problem solving abilities.
  • CAD user – NX (v8.0 or later) (Visualisation software such as Showcase, Adobe Suite would be beneficial)
  • Good technical & manual skills (test rig building, use of CAD drawings, GD&T)
  • Good communication skills: Able to communicate ideas clearly & concisely
  • Proficient use of Microsoft software including Powerpoint, Word and Excel
  • Data recording, analysis & report writing
  • Capability of working under pressure
  • Ability to manage multiple demands on time & priorities
  • Excellent analytical & systematic approach to problem solving
  • Ability to take decisions that minimise engineering risk in a solution
  • Open-minded & lateral thinking

Aston Martin are seeking someone to provide expertise to Engineers in defining GD&T (Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing ) for parts and assemblies.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Provide expert support to all commodity owners within Body Engineering in implementing GD&T to CAD and/or drawings as per industry recognised standards
  • Provide GD&T training to Engineers within Body Engineering
  • Support Body Engineering in optimising locating strategies and tolerances
  • Run a forum to track development, deployment and updates of GD&T annotations

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Engineering Degee in Mechanical, Automotive, Aeronautical or similar fields
  • Advanced level of GD&T training
  • Masters Degee in Mechanical, Automotive, Aeronautical or similar fields
  • Experience working as a GD&T expert.
  • Experience working in Dimensional management, Dimensional Control, or Dimensional Variation Analysis
  • Experience in the automotive industry with a broad knowledge of Automotive engineering design and manufacturing, particularly relating to Body
  • Experience in training engineers in GD&T
  • To possess full knowledge of GD&T to ISO standards.
  • To have a good knowledge in manufacturing processes and their associated tolerances
  • To be capable of conducting basic dimensional variation analysis by hand
  • To have a significant knowledge of statistics and data analysis in line with the role as GD&T expert
  • Working knowledge of GD&T annotation in PMI (Siemens NX)
  • Working knowledge of Vis VSA
  • To be capable of dealing with high levels of uncertainty
  • To have good presentation skills
  • To integrate into a developing and dynamic team
  • To be keen to take on challenges
  • To have a proactive and positive approach to work
  • To be able to manage multiple tasks and deliver them to demanding targets and tight deadlines

Great opportunity for an experienced automotive CAD Engineer to support a variety of Exterior Trim design and package projects for an iconic vehicle manufacturer based in the Midlands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • CAD design and modelling for exterior trim, sealing systems, grilles and mouldings in Siemens NX
  • Management of created CAD into Teamcenter to appropriate industry and in house standards
  • Component design for injection moulding
  • Supporting Project Engineers & PMST Leader resolve build issues during pre-production build and launch.

Of graduate calibre and substantive previous automotive CAD design experience using NX, previous exterior trim, glazing and sealing systems knowledge would be beneficial. You will have a good understanding of component manufacturing and lead times alongside the ability to work across multiple projects on either a stand-alone or team basis as required.
 

This is a critical hire for our client and is supported by a competitive rate and initial 12 month contract length.
