Job Purpose The Powertrain team requires a Driveline Project Engineer to define a component concept from test data, translate it into a design and take the project through development into production.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Deliver Driveline System(s) on time into production achieving the following:
  • Quality: Use AML engineering quality systems (FMEAs, Robustness Studies etc) to identify & contain potential quality concerns
  • Cost: Support Driveline Manager in definition of programme cost targets & work with suppliers to deliver system that achieves these targets
  • Weight: Support Driveline Manager in definition of programme weight targets & manage CAD engineers to design system that achieves targets
  • Function: Generate robust System Design Specification to define system functional targets & deliver components to meet targets. Support Test & Development team with DVP planning & execution & ensure supplier tests are completed on time.
  • Package: Manage CAD engineers to achieve static & dynamic clearance targets, negotiate component change in other areas of AML Product Development if required to achieve clearances.

 
Qualifications & Experience:

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent relevant experience.
  • The successful candidate will have some experience of delivering a commodity to production, as well as be able to demonstrate a robust engineering approach.
  • To operate successfully in this role, the candidate should be able to prioritise multiple tasks on a day to day level, must be flexible & able to communicate at all levels.
  • He/she must also be self-motivated & driven to achieve results.
  • Driving licence & Medical clearance to use High speed tracks and Hot and Cold environmental chambers if required to support development activities.

Job Purpose This role exists to enable the production of in house calibration for our future engine families. To develop calibrations for the Powertrain on test beds and in vehicle. To manage the calibration test programmes and the numerous suppliers required achieving delivery of a fully certified vehicle calibration system meeting the programme objectives. To assess and feedback issues to the Powertrain calibration team to enable the calibration to meet European and US certification standards.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Lead and support Transmission calibration activity on defined projects, assimilate and distribute knowledge within the team reporting to the Powertrain Calibration manager
  • Ability to act as Technical project lead for new Transmission calibration functions
  • Lead transmission calibration development as defined Transmission Calibration Lead.
  • Be part of a project team to create and develop the various aspects of calibration for all Aston Martin Vehicles
  • Manage and support external facilities and suppliers to achieve Calibration team goals
  • Represent the company externally at a senior level with regard to calibration activities and supplier visits
  • Report progress vs plans at Director level within AML
  • Prepare project-timing plans for the Powertrain and programme teams to support model year actions and major design changes.
  • Prepare reports of all findings from Test bed, Vehicle testing and environmental testing of the vehicle, and present these to all levels up to director technical meetings
  • Initiate and prepare modifications to the calibration on future model year actions
  • Guide, direct and train to develop other team members


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Ideally educated to Degree level or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience within automotive vehicle manufacturer in a Powertrain Calibration function
  • Recent direct experience of application of new technologies including Calibration of Automatic transmissions.
  • Full driving license
  • Ability to work in hot and cold climates
  • Prepared to support overseas suppliers on a regular basis

Job Purpose: The purpose of this role is design and engineering of powertrain systems and components including: Fuel, Oil, Cooling, HVAC, Exhaust, Base Engine, Transmission and Driveline.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Liaise with system engineers to establish component and system requirements.
  • Create package schemes using NX7.5 and TCE8.3 to corporate requirements.
  • Migrate components from IDEAS to NX and repair 3D models & 2D details as required
  • Release of 3D and 2D detail designs, including maintenance of TCE Digital Bucks, to AML standards.
  • Deliver system and component model freezes to support AM-Mission Virtual Series milestones.
  • Maintain system and component material and mass property tracking in model.
  • Liaise with component engineers and suppliers to establish all necessary information in support of design activities.
  • Support package studies and reviews with all necessary information in consideration of all affected areas.
  • Support engineers with information for part procurement activities.
  • Support Programme and Powertrain Checkpoints, Design Reviews, Package Meetings & Powertrain PMT meetings where required.
  • Support/ Assist engineers in the resolution of Engineering Concerns including ensuring CAD information is available and transferred to the supplier in a timely manner. Advising relevant engineer or programme manager if data is likely to be late.
  • Execute secure data transfer via web based portals or high speed data links.
  • Excellent time management and self-discipline.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Competent with NX7.5 and Team Centre Engineering.
  • Previous experience of Automotive Powertrain related CAD design.
  • Preferably educated to Degree level or an equivalent length of relevant experience.
  • Previous experience/knowledge of AML/Ford/Jaguar design standards would be beneficial.
  • A flexible attitude to the range of systems is required and the ability to support multiple programmes with demanding time constraints.
  • Good PC skills (MS Office including preparation of Power Point presentations)
