Working within the Mechanical Simulation Department the Systems Engineer will provide a “What if” mindset, enabling issues to be well anticipated and corresponding changes implemented to prevent those issues being realised as changes are introduced in to each Power Unit. The successful candidate will use their experience in FMEA and DFMAs to develop predictive quality and reliability tools and methodologies, to embed the use and mind set of FMEAs across AMG High Performance Powertrains. The Systems Engineer will also be tasked with conducting root cause analysis, define, develop, manage and audit the teams reliability processes and tools.

Your Profile:
You will be degree educated with 2:1 classification or above in a relevant engineering subject (Eg Mechanical/Automotive) and have 3+ years’ experience in a challenging fast paced engineering environment. You will be a subject matter expert in FMEA and DFMEA and have previous experience in providing reliability engineering support to all technical functions. Using you experience in industry you produce high quality reports on risk prediction and reduction. There will be a need to work comfortably in cross-functional groups and also the ability to work independently and lead multiple projects to strict deadlines. Due to the nature of this position, the need to analyse, interpret and present data will be paramount.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks
Develop and maintain commodity strategies for a specific range of commodities, ensuring that AML is kept up to date on market place commercial and technical developments, as well as potential suppliers. • Manage supplier performance through vehicle launch phases and current vehicle phases, ensuring that Quality, Cost and Delivery performance is maintained at high levels. In addition, provide enthusiasm and passion for driving continuous improvement in these metrics, internally at AML as well as at the Supplier.
• Provide purchasing / commercial input into cross-functional teams that effectively contributes to the organisation’s programme goals by applying a confident approach to teamwork.
• Understand and support the quality department in achieving full Quality Approval (Supplier Performance Approval Process).
• Constantly strive for process improvement opportunities internally, as well as with the Supplier base, focussing on business ‘Best Practice’ initiatives.
• Identify supplier risk and develop robust risk mitigation strategies where necessary.
• Lead and promote good supplier relationships.
• Play an instrumental role in enabling the function to achieve its business objectives, through meeting or ideally exceeding defined objectives.

Qualifications & Experience
• Educated to Degree level and a full member of CIPS, or at least working towards this.
• Previous purchasing experience is desirable.
• Understanding of the strategic role of the purchasing function and ability to work at this level.
• Demonstrable ability to prioritise tasks and have effective time management and analytical skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks
• The PPC will be responsible for maintaining and updating prototype BOM’s with part tracking information gathered from different PMT areas (Engineering, MP&L, Purchasing, Prototype Workshop, Finance)
• The PPC will assist the PPL, and take an active part in the creation of prototype bills of materials.
• The PPC will work with the PMT areas and prototype workshop on the coordination & supply of prototype and production parts into the business from suppliers both internal & external.
• The PPC will track parts via the BOM for specific builds using purchase order information (order numbers, timing, quantities etc.)
• PPC will change manage the BOM updating with adds/deletes as they arise.
• PPC will raise PCR’s or internal transfer requests where required for both engineering and production parts.
• Assist PMT areas with expediting purchase requests through various systems both internal & external.
• Work with different departments to ensure parts are delivered on time to support prototype builds.
• Assist the PPL in parts tracking meetings
• Assist the PPL with the tracking and resolution of build issues generated during Prototype build activities.
• Communicate with Finance to generate reports to track spend against budget.

Qualifications & Experience

• Coordination of vehicle concept layout in assistance to Vehicle Engineering Manager.

• Work with PMT areas to ensure robust FDJ through use of virtual builds and assessment of target delivery.
• Manage Prototype fleet and apportioning of development testing to achieve robust FEC.
• Assist in concern resolution with engineering and attribute teams including regular reviews and reporting as required.
• Assist with management reviews and drive assessments as required.
• Support PMT / PMST meetings as required acting as the voice of Vehicle Engineering.
• Attend and present in Technical Forums, programme PSTs, and other programme reviews as required.
• Act as stand-in for the Vehicle Engineering Manager when required.
• Take a lead role in minor model programmes including concept work and attribute lead.

Qualifications & Experience
• Automotive or Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent.

• Experience in component design, development and sign off.
• Experienced vehicle assessor. R202 training beneficial.
• Expert user of Microsoft Office tools particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
• Confident and authoritative presentation skills.
• Should be self-motivated and able to work independently.

Job Purpose: The purpose of this role is to construct Vehicle Package Layout CAD Geometry.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Create reference geometric package supporting Project Engineer, to meet PALs targets laid down by Vehicle Programme team.
  • Create Layout in both 2D and 3D CAD.

  • Run package meetings and provide package schemes to resolve cross functional issues.

  • Support Virtual Series activity by ensuring delivery of CAD from PMTs to required maturity and conducting package target compliance analysis.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Engineering
  • Experience in whole vehicle package.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements.
  • Worked in a cross functional role in Automotive. Working knowledge of vehicle attributes would be an advantage.
  • Ability to use Vis Mock-up to an advanced level, NX and Team Centre. MS Tools: Project, Excel, PowerPoint and word.
  • Must show passion for sports cars.
  • Must be a clear communicator, with good organisation skills. Must be able to negotiate and arbitrate between PMT's and PAT's to achieve the best geometric solutions for the product.
  • Driving Licence - may be required to support benchmarking activities, so will need to attain AML level 3 permit.
