Working for a well-established Chemical production company based in Warrington, you will be required to maintain all of the electrical/instrumentation and weighing systems on the site.

The equipment is to be maintained in a safe and efficient manner so as to ensure maximum plant reliability. You will be involved with the commissioning of new equipment and will interact with other members of the plant’s maintenance and production teams.

Roles & responsibilities

  • Investigate faults and repair electrical/instrumentation and weighing systems.
  • Carry out planned maintenance schedules in accordance with the requirements of the planned maintenance system to minimise downtime and contribute to the achievement of production targets.
  • The inspection, maintenance and calibration of electrical/instrumentation and weighing equipment to API standards.   
  • Clear understanding of loop and schematic diagrams and able to interpret and mark-up electrical/instrumentation technical schematic drawings to as built status.
  • To actively participate as part of the E/I team and also a wider Plant Engineering Maintenance           
  • To actively participate in meetings, reliability studies and RCAs to assist in making improvements.
  • Proactively identify and progress minor improvement projects.
  • Liaising with suppliers of electrical/instrumentation equipment to ensure the correct specification and procurement of spares.
  • Adhere to SHE principles, demonstrating commitment to safety through language, willingness to learn, behaviour and actions, complying with safety practices and committed to zero tolerance of unsafe acts.
  • Fully familiar with the permit to work system and isolation procedures and carry out isolations of Electrical and instrument circuits

Essential experience

  • Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent training scheme, supplemented by training or HNC in Control/Instrumentation Engineering, or equivalent and/ or relevant
  • 16/17th edition levels 1 (Level 2 desirable)
  • Excellent understanding of all process plants and control loops. Able to diagnose faults on PLC/DCS/SCADA systems.
  • The E/I Technician will be expected to become conversant with site standards concerning isolations, modifications and electrical/instrumentation and weighing systems.
  • The E/I Technician will be expected to become conversant with SAP system as used within the Engineering Department.
