We are assisting a leading engineering & project management contractor that specialises in the delivery of projects in highly regulated industries that include defence, oil & gas, nuclear and research. An assignment is available for an experienced Senior Planner to assist on various nuclear projects. Candidates will ideally be SC cleared with the ability to attain DV clearance in the future.

The Project Planner is the ‘organiser’ of a project or projects. The Planner sets out, monitors, maintains and updates the project schedule in coordination with all stakeholders of the project. The Planner provides information to the Project Management and Design Management teams on project progress including critical path and project milestones. The Planner works closely with the Project Services team in monitoring programme KPI’s e.g. Earned Value.

Key responsibilities as a Senior Project Planner
• Draft programmes in conjunction with the Project team for approval by the Project Manager
• Discuss & agree resources and timescales with the Project Manager
• Ensure all activities within the Project scope of work are included in programmes
• Issue programmes of work in accordance with Document Control system
• Gather information from design team, subcontractors, client for progress reporting purposes
• Responsible for updating the project plan throughout the project lifetime
• Maintain cause and effect records in liaison with the Project Manager
• Regularly update the project resource plan and discuss peaks and troughs with the Project Manager
• Manage progress reporting against the programme
• Pursue sub-contractors programmes & ensure alignment with those of the project
• Operate change control in line with the Project contract requirements
• Recommend delivery and sequencing strategies to the Project Manager based on project knowledge
• Recommend internal Project Control Process Improvements and undertake quality checks
• Provide client performance data and reports as required
Person Specification:

Position of the Senior Project Planner within the organisation:
• Reporting to the Planning Manager at Line Management level.
• The Senior Planner may mentor less experienced Planners in the business

Ideally you will have the following qualifications, skills, experience and attributes…

Essential:
• Minimum HND or equivalent level of qualification is required
• PC literate in Microsoft Office suite
• Knowledge of using Project Planning software (Primavera) is required.
• SC or DV level security clearance is preferred though not essential. DV Security Clearance will be sponsored by the Company and all candidates MUST be eligible for DV clearance
• Demonstrable competence gained in a planning/scheduling role
• Experience of working within a project delivery environment
• Full knowledge of the Project Lifecycle

Desirable:
Preferably degree qualified in technical/engineering or project management discipline though not essential
Ideally, a depth of experience will have been gained within a construction industry incorporating at least either civil, electrical or mechanical engineering disciplines
Full UK Driving Licence

Essential Experience : 
• Experienced Planner / Planning Engineer with previous experience of working on nuclear or highly regulated construction projects
• Experience of subcontracts and working with the end client
• SC cleared and the ability to attain DV Clearance

An opportunity is available for a Senior Project Planner to assist a leading design consultancy with projects in the rail, pharmaceutical and nuclear industries.

Roles and Responsibilities:
One of the functions of the Project Control Division is to develop and manage resource loaded project schedules, provide analysis, management and reporting to challenge and improve project execution.
The individual must be able to prepare programmes / schedules in the Design/Engineering environment with limited support from engineers.

Key objectives:

Ensure that the reporting relating to the project performance always reflects the most up to date status. To provide work plans for completion with each discipline. To utilise provided data for reporting of progress against current baselines, report on variance and challenge visible trends with relevant teams.

The key tasks associated with achieving this will include but are not limited to the following: -

  • Develop and manage resource loaded schedules and guide the project team to create a robust project baseline.
  • Facilitate weekly project update meetings to challenge performance and further progress, update forecast to complete hours and implement changes derived from assessments made.
  • Highlight potential risk, critical path analysis, and provide suitable mitigation measures to the appropriate lead.
  • Support the change control process and implement baseline change requests with in primavera P6.
  • Continually improve and streamline the planning process. Maintain a consistent process to evaluate the benefit of reporting.

An assignment is available for a Quantity Surveyor/ Sub-Contract Administrator to work with an EPC Contractor supporting a large Energy from Waste project.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Ensure cost control is maintained on a project basis throughout all project functions (Engineering, Procurement and Construction).
• Identify, monitor project cost and values against set WBS budgets, including advising Cost management of variance and change analysis, budget control and trend analysis.
