Great Western

December 2014

Electrifying the Great Western route will make journeys more reliable, greener and quieter for thousands of rail passengers.

Great Western is engaged with the process of upgrading and improving the services across the entire UK rail infrastructure.

A key project is the electrification of one of Britain’s biggest and oldest rail networks - the Great Western route.

Millbank’s latest agreements with the project partners build on a successful period for MDA Rail, the specialist isolations, possession management, engineering and technical division of the Millbank Group. Notably this was awarded just weeks after Millbank and MDA Rail won additional contracts with principal contractors on projects including the Northern Hub.

Electrifying the Great Western route will make journeys more reliable, greener and quieter for thousands of rail passengers. The project also includes significant investment and preparation work on the upgrading of bridges and tunnels, including safety improvement work to parapets.

Millbank is supporting Network Rail with the following positions:

  • Site services - supervisors, engineers, managers and agents
  • Section engineers and construction managers
  • Planning engineers (P6 and possession/SSOW)
  • Project controls - quantity surveyors, estimators and commercial managers
  • HSQE advisors/managers
  • Design managers (CRE and CEM approved)
  • Civil/structural designers
  • OHLE
  • Designers in all disciplines (PWAY, signalling, civil/structural, etc.)
