COMPANY INFORMATION: Our client is one of the leading providers of technical consultancy, engineering services and programme and asset management to the nuclear industry.
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:Acting as part of Architect Engineering Project Team, working with the staff (based in Tours) to support the initial Level 1 design activities of the main cooling water pipework for the UK EPR.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Successful execution of high quality engineering work to time, quality, budget and customer satisfaction including:• Generation of 2D/3D CAD drawings and models across various disciplines• Management of design and CAD related data within database environments
To develop an understanding of the engineering process to be used on the UK EPR including the:• Role of the Architect Engineering organisation and also the lower level design organisations• Role of Design Authority• Overall engineering process from the systems functional specifications to the 3D model.• Responsibilities for layout co-ordination between the various design organisations. • To develop successful working relationships with contacts in client organisation.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum of a BTech in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) is required. Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
Minimum of 5+ years in piping layout design aspects in a highly regulated industry, preferably in the process or nuclear industry, including: • design and layout of pipework and supports • knowledge of calculation codes and rules for pipework • Proven track record of delivering results within an engineering environment • interfacing with other technical disciplines on multi-discipline design projects• Construction and installations experience would be advantageous• Principles of engineering design checking and design review.
An ability to communicate in French (written and spoken) would be advantageous
