EDF Energy R&D has announced a project, H2H or ‘Hydrogen to Heysham’, which will use nuclear power from the Heysham power stations to generate low carbon, low cost hydrogen gas using on-site electrolysers. The Hydrogen gas will be used for transport and heating fuel as an alternative to fossil fuels. The H2H project is part of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy’s £20m Hydrogen Supply programme.
