Our Client; a truly global leader in the manufacture of Specialist Vehicles and Survivability systems are experiencing substantial growth, which is being led by a healthy order book. As a result, we are actively seeking an experienced Materials Manager to join the department on a permanent basis.
As a Materials Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of Material Controllers, who manage the inbound material to support production activities. Holding overall responsibility for the inventory levels, and ensuring material impacts to cash flow and production are minimised.
Specific Responsibilities will include:
Taking overall control of Materials Management and Supplier Performance, you will be;
First point of escalation for the materials team with supplier issues.
Monitor supplier performance and feedback into the Outsource team.
Hold regular team meetings with a focus on feeding back to the wider business any potential issues.
Provide a weekly and monthly status reports on KPI’s.
Support continuous improvement methods to ensure that business systems are being utilised to their full capability and make suggestions on improvements.
Create a high performing team environment, and manage the performance of the team through regular performance management and goal setting.
Be responsible for ensuring that all team members within the Materials department adhere to relevant HSE procedures, and all training is up to date.
Support the other areas within the supply chain functions to ensure that material is controlled effectively, and stock is kept at optimum levels.
Attend management meetings and feedback the current position of the materials team to the wider business.
Qualifications & Experience ideally needed:
Should ideally have a Degree in a relevant discipline, although those with less qualifications, but plenty of relevant experience will be considered.
You will need extensive experience in a strategic leadership role in Supply Chain / Material Management, ideally gained from working in an Automotive manufacturing and/or Defence vehicle environment.
Extensive experience of strategic sourcing in the vehicle, engineering and production environment is needed.
You will need to be a strong negotiator.
Should be able to manage demanding external and internal stakeholders.
Experience of multi-site purchasing requirements needed.
Will ideally be familiar with defence procurement and commercial sales processes.
