HSE Manager

Role

We have an opportunity for an experienced HSE Manager to assist on projects related to the Oil & Gas & Marine industries based in the East Anglia area.

Roles and Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to and responsible to the Quality Assurance and CI Manager. The HSE Marine Manager will be responsible for ensuring all aspects of HSE are adhered to within the (Ship to Ship) Department, whilst at the same time coordinating and overseeing the investigation of all Near Misses and Incidents.The HSE Marine Manager may be required to travel globally and present findings or safety initiatives to clients or at industry forums.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for policing and advising the STS team on marine HSE issues for the safe conduct of STS operations
  • Responsible for leading and co-ordinating Incident / Near Miss Investigations process to close-out
  • Produce in depth events investigation reports, highlighting root causes and suggesting practical actions to prevent re-occurrence
  • Review and analyse all STS events and HSE data to identify any emerging trends or potential problems including compilation of month-end events and monthly HSE reports for presentation to STS management team
  • Create and produce of a varied range of HSE documentation for the support of Marine Assurance team requirements
  • Assist with the reviewing and revising the STS divisions' management system ensuring compliance with all relevant industry guidelines and regulations
  • Provide marine HSE knowledge and training to operations and support personnel
  • Assist with STS Bases, Support Crafts and Equipment audits and assessments and advise on responses for closing of corrective action
  • Attend internal Marine Assurance and Safety Meetings

OTHER TASKS / GENERAL:

  • Maintain a current knowledge of applicable Industry Regulations and Guidelines to steer the business towards continued compliance
  • Undertake any other duties of a reasonable nature as required
  • Represent client business interests at Government, non-government and Industry Forums

DIRECT REPORTS / TEAM:

  • HSE Advisor

QUALIFICATIONS, BEHAVIOURS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent
  • Extensive HSE experience ideally in a marine related industry
  • Excellent knowledge of OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001
  • Lead Auditor Accredited (preferred)
  • Deck officer on board merchant vessels or equivalent marine / oil and gas experience, preferably with an oil and gas company
  • Strong knowledge of offshore oil & gas market and STS operations
  • Excellent knowledge of Maritime legislation and familiarity of STS operations
  • Be personally energetic, dynamic, positive and enthusiastic and possess the ability to think laterally and act through reasoned decision making
  • Ability to implement and manage change in the business
  • Ability to handle high pressure, intense situations and handle them calmly
  • Excellent reporting to Senior Management
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Leadership and team building qualities and excellent inter personal skills
  • Ability to work under own initiative and adapt to changing situations
