As an Aerothermal Analyst you will support the development of future programmes within the Vehicle Attribute Engineering team at Aston Martin.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Using simulation software and experimental testing you will perform heat transfer and aerodynamic flow analyses to deliver data driven solutions.
  • You will support the development of thermal management systems to meet the functional requirement of multiple departments including, Powertrain, Thermal & Cooling, Brakes and Aerodynamics.
  • As part of the delivery of the whole vehicle attribute you will support cross functional project teams, ensuring an appropriate level of understanding is provided to allow effective attribute balancing.
  • You will write technical reports and present results to a business wide audience.
  • You will contribute to the on-going development of department’s capabilities & processes, including liaising with external suppliers, both facilities and software.

Qualifications & Experience

  • An Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering degree or similar is required and you must be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
  • You will have considerable experience with vehicle thermal modelling, including mesh preparation and post-processing tools, using TAITherm or similar. Additionally, you will have experience using CAD Modelling software with PLM, preferably Siemens NX with Teamcenter.
  • Your skills and abilities will include knowledge of physical testing techniques, vehicle data acquisition and processing. Hands on experience conducting climatic wind tunnel testing would also be required.
  • You will be highly motivated and organised with a meticulous approach to tasks. Good communication and documentation skills are essential. You will have strong teamwork and collaboration skills and produce results within fixed timelines.
  • You will have developed a thorough knowledge of thermal modelling in a similar role in either an OEM, at an outsourced partner or from the aerospace industry.
