Job Purpose: A Design Engineer is required to support the expansion of the Q Collection development team. The team is responsible for delivering a new range of premium Q options for the next generation of Aston Martin cars. The Design Engineer will be required to manage their own projects from concept through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
The key responsibilities and tasks of the role include:

  • Working under the direction of the Programme Leader, develop project specifications for function, timing, cost and quality
  • Work with the key stakeholders & system owners within Aston Martin Lagonda at the concept stage to identify any technical or legal constraints
  • Set functional and performance targets for the full product or system
  • Work with the Purchasing team throughout the sourcing process to ensure commercial targets are met
  • Prepare and own project timing plans for engineering activities, for example Design release, sourcing, prototype development, testing, tooling etc.
  • Develop NX Computer Aided Design models, using Design released surfaces where appropriate to create fully engineered components
  • Project manage the sourced supplier to deliver systems meeting all Aston Martin Lagonda engineering and programme targets.
  • Present progress at programme reviews including PSTs
  • Work collaboratively with the other Aston Martin Lagonda departments including Quality and Manufacturing Engineering
  • Act as the key fact holder for system
  • Identify the Design Verification Plan requirements and lead any system or vehicle level testing to ensure product meets Aston Martin Lagonda standards
  • Release parts through ERP process
  • Manage the project handover process to the Launch and MP&L teams at completion stage


Qualifications & Experience
The successful applicant will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Minimum Degree level in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience within automotive industry, preferably with experience across a broad range of commodities.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Good ability to clearly present information to all levels in the organisation.
  • Experienced NX user.
  • Knowledge of the AML ‘Mission’ process would be beneficial.
  • Driving licence, Medical clearance to drive company vehicles.
