Job Purpose: To rationalise and improve the long term fixing and torque application strategies at the Company for all current vehicle programmes

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Action supplier driven engineering changes, completing signoff with line trials/part introduction for the following:
  • Tier two supplier changes
  • Part rationalisation & commonisation (cost avoidance)
  • Part alterations (changes as part of cost down activity)
  • Fastener plating changes (for obsolete finishes, environmental legislation changes & improvements etc.)
  • Part obsolescence investigation and BoM corrections (particularly important for the improvement of the Purchasing reconciliation exercise)
  • General BoM management with Tier 1 suppliers (adjusting quantities, fit points etc.)
  • Handling part queries and engineering drawing updates (for missing drawing detail and obscurities etc.)
  • Assisting in SPAP signoff for the current fastener BoM (again including line trials where necessary and part introduction)
  • Leading resolution of quality concerns and safety/legislative related issues highlighted from within production


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualifications.
  • Fastener application criteria and designation of joint classification
  • Application of torque and relevant control measures
  • Joint durability assessment
  • Bill of material management and adjustment
  • Engineering change management
  • Supplier liaison and management
  • Utilisation of CAD software (NX & Teamcenter)
  • Technical understanding of torque application
  • Reading and interpretation of engineering drawings
  • Good general knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Good presentation skills
  • Ability to liaise with suppliers and work in conjunction with them to achieve a common goal
  • Ability to work with all areas of Product Development, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Quality to implement changes to current process/BoM.
