Job Purpose: The role exists to work with the minimum of supervision within the Trim Development department on the design, development, release and handover to production of interior trim components. The primary role is to support the Trim Development team in the smooth handover of trim developed components into the manufacturing environment, ensuring that all pre-production release kits are cut, kitted and delivered to correct levels on time for build, that master samples are kept up to date, and that all build issues are logged and fed back into the team for review so changes and relevant concerns can be captured. To achieve all of this they must work with Trim Development Engineers from start of project to ensure process knowledge is known and captured and both vehicle and build requirements are known and achieved.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Ownership of all Pre Release trim development kits going to production line, ensuring all parts are within kit, and correct level of patterns and materials have been used.
  • Ownership of all concerns and containments relating to kit supply.
  • Support Trim start up and wash up meetings for new projects.
  • Work under the direction of Trim Development Manager on a day to day basis
  • Ownership for the process of Trim Masters delivery, the pedigree of masters, Related concerns, Cataloguing and part information
  • Support work of Trim Release Engineer to ensure kits drawings are accurate and capture all changes required from previous builds.
  • Pre-Production build co-ordination.
  • Day by day plan, build specs, and workload.
  • Support pre-production build events.
  • Raise all PCRs and PWRS for materials and labour relating to trim bucks, test kits and components.
  • Q Work coordinator.
  • Support of Gateways for minor projects with status and trim plan.
  • Ownership of all incoming materials and tracking system for Trim Development department.
  • Support Trim Engineers to develop process ready for manufacturing hand over.
  • Support PD Cabin and Cockpit teams as required.
  • Support generation of trim guides and standards
  • Ownership of Trim Development consumables.
  • Liaison with external suppliers on technical issues as required.
  • Liaison with internal departments as required.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Educated to A-level or equivalent within an engineering related discipline with automotive experience in Interior Trim and/or Manufacturing.
  • Experienced in trim engineering and manufacture of interior trim componentry
  • Knowledge of Interior trimmed components.
  • Knowledge of Gerber cutting, sewing, and trim Development facilities would also be advantageous.
  • A working knowledge of Supplier component manufacturing, tooling requirements & lead times.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Good ability to clearly present information to all levels in the organisation.
  • Good communication and organisation skills.
  • The ideal candidate will be a focused, highly motivated, results orientated individual who works well under pressure and can work to a given deadline.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment is essential.
  • Driving licence, Medical clearance to drive company vehicles.
