Working for a large Chemical manufacturing company. To define and deliver a variety of process, product and environmentally related analytical investigations in support of production, commercial and SHE requirements. To provide robust analytical and technical service expertise to production / environmental managers, technical service managers and external customers.

Job Description

To define and deliver a variety of process, product and environmentally related analytical investigations in support of production, commercial and SHE requirements. To provide robust analytical and technical service expertise to production / environmental managers, technical service managers and external customers.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Critically assess measurements undertaken in the laboratory or on plant and take action to address anomalies to ensure business decisions are based on robust data.
  • Develop, trial and validate new analytical methods to resolve problems and improve the overall technical capability of the business.
  • Develop and sustain Analytical Science knowledge and use this knowledge to advise SHE, production and commercial managers to meet SHE, production and commercial objectives.
  • Maintain and calibrate more complex analytical instrumentation to ensure business decisions are based on robust data.
  • Carry out sampling and analysis on all environmental and Occupational Health samples.

Particular Experience Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of a wide range of analytical chemistry techniques with in depth knowledge in at least one.
  • Project Management understanding.
  • Understanding of the principals of a COMAH site. The majority of the work areas are covered by the COMAH regulations where toxic, flammable and corrosive products are manufactured. The job holder has to ensure that all project work takes into account and manages these risks. When working on other sites, including those of customers, the job holder is often the person who has to access and manage any additional and unexpected hazards.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Chemistry Degree
  • Full driving licence

Desirable Qualification:

  • MCERTS Level 2 (or willing to work towards)
