This is an excellent opportunity to work on a Joint Venture consortium on a 299 MWe new build power plant. The main steam generation system is composed of a Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) boiler using wood pellets and chips as main fuel. The scope also includes all necessary balance of plant, including fuel handling and the necessary abatement systems to fulfil the latest emission standards. Project Value: £650m


To ensure that the labour allocated to his section of the scope of work operates in accordance with the safety, quality and site procedures, thereby meeting contract and the clients requirements.
Boiler Competencies

  •  Previous boiler erection experience, ability to read boiler drawing and knowledge of alloy P91 P22 P11 large Bore Boiler Piping systems preferably
  •  Previous experience in setting out boiler large bore system part pipework supports and variable constant hangers, to ensure correcting setting and alignment of heavy wall pipework.
  •  Ability to set out and route heavy wall pipework, including setting and fit ups for welding.
  •  Installation and fit-up of large pressure part valves, NRV’s, control valves.
  •  Ability to review routing of drains, vents and field run at site.
  •  Setting and alignment of boiler Main steam hot reheat cold reheat FW systems
  •  Setting and alignment of boiler elements, boiler Piping systems and hangers.
  •  Previous experience in working with P91, P22, P11 alloy materials.
  •  Meeting targets, and ensuring that crew area productive, pre planning for following days activities, and ensuring crew have correct gear, equipment and materials in advance.

  •  Knowledge of the technical requirements associated with his specific discipline.
  •  Knowledge and effective application of company and client quality procedures.
  •  Ability to effectively manage and resolve first line industrial and employee relation issues.
  •  Basic understanding of company administration procedures e.g. timesheets and reports etc.

Key Accountabilities

  •  To ensure that all site operations under his supervision are carried out in a safe manner free of risk to all of the workforce.
  •  To plan, organise and execute the work within his scope to achieve the required level of productivity.
  •  To assist the section engineer to ensure the operational methods are employed to carry out the required works.
  •  To ensure the quality standards are achieved by implementing quality procedures advising section/quality engineers of problems with procedures and standards of workmanship and cooperation in the resolution.
  •  To handle effectively all first line disciplinary, grievance and performance management issues.
  •  To complete those administrative tasks required under the scope of the contract.

Other Key Duties

  •  Ensuring the contractor are following Code  requirements for piping
  •  Meeting construction schedules
  •  Monitor Hazard awareness
  •  Implement safety procedures e.g. risk assessments, permit to work etc.
  • Allocate and monitor given tasks to those under his control to achieve the required productivity

Qualifications:  Minimum Qualifications
3 years advanced craftsman status in supervisory discipline and 4 years

Preferred Qualifications
Time served pipe fitter

10 years in Power Industry Sector, in construction and maintenance.
