Today marks a monumental moment in the UK’s journey towards clean energy security, with two major announcements that will shape the country’s nuclear landscape for generations.

Millbank is proud to be part of this pivotal movement as a key supplier to the nuclear industry, and a member of the Sizewell C Consortium – one of only a few recruitment companies playing such a direct role in shaping the future of UK energy.

The UK Government has confirmed a multi-billion-pound investment in Sizewell C, greenlighting the construction of the nuclear power station that is expected to provide power to six million homes. As Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves put it:

Today we are once again investing in Britain's renewal, with the biggest nuclear building programme in a generation

Meanwhile, Great British Energy – Nuclear has made a defining move of its own. Now officially entering the delivery stage, this publicly-owned body (formerly Great British Nuclear) has selected Rolls-Royce SMR as its preferred technology partner. An allied company to Great British Energy, it shares a unified mission: to deliver clean, sovereign energy to the UK and to lead the global race in next-generation technologies such as SMRs and floating offshore wind.

As Great British Energy – Nuclear commented, “Today’s announcement will not only accelerate the nation’s journey towards secure and sovereign energy, but also create thousands of skilled jobs, strengthen the UK supply chain, and position Britain as a global leader in clean energy innovation.”

Energy Secretary Ed Miliband reinforced the significance of these developments, stating: “We need new nuclear to deliver a golden age of clean energy abundance, because that is the only way to protect family finances, take back control of our energy, and tackle the climate crisis."

These investments aren’t just about kilowatts and carbon – they’re about people. They’re about thousands of jobs across engineering, construction, and project delivery, with long-term opportunities emerging as the UK ramps up its clean energy commitments.

As a key supplier to the nuclear sector and a proud member of the SZC Consortium, Millbank is closely aligned with the growth of this industry. We’re actively engaged in supporting a wide range of future-facing infrastructure projects, which will require expertise in areas such as:

  • Project Management
