Ten years ago, Sean walked through the doors of Millbank ready for a new challenge.

At the time, his son Theo was just six months old. Sean was looking for a role that offered not just professional growth, but the right balance to support his young family. Having previously worked with Millbank as a client, he knew exactly what he was joining: an established, professional outfit with a reputation for quality.

Today, we are proud to celebrate his 10-year anniversary.

From his first day as a Business Manager to his current role as Director, Sean’s journey is a testament to the Millbank ethos of earning your stripes and leading from the front.

Earning the Stripes

Sean’s philosophy has always been hands-on.

"I came in as a Business Manager, and it was really important to me to earn our stripes," Sean explains.

"I did that through getting to know everybody, working their current clients, development and, of course, recruiting. Now, as a Director, I still recruit. I can't give that up. I love it."

This dedication to the core craft of recruitment is what sets Sean apart. While he now drives business strategy and leadership, he remains deeply connected to the talent pools and client needs that drive our industry.

Looking to the Future

While today is about celebrating the last decade, Sean is already looking at what is next for Millbank and our clients.

Reflecting on the market as we head towards 2026, Sean is optimistic about the growth across our key sectors.

"We're seeing growth in Nuclear with the new builds, Defence with all the investment, Water with AMP8, and Manufacturing generally," he notes.

To meet this demand, Sean is championing internal projects to make the Millbank team even more effective. This includes adopting new systems and AI tools: not to replace the human element, but to handle compliance and processes more efficiently.

"It's to make sure staff can be more effective... And of course, be on the phone to our talent pools and clients a lot more, building those key relationships."
